TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 1, 2009) There are more than trophies and titles on the line at the 37th running of the Tire Rack® 91PORN Solo National Championships, a bevy of contingency cash and prizes will be up for grabs as well. American Honda, Mazda North American Operations, Toyota/TRD and Volkswagen of America will all pay out cash prizes in select classes. The Honda, Mazda and Volkswagen programs will each pay eligible first through third-place finishers. Volkswagen is posting $1,000 for a win, $500 for second and $250 for third. Mazda will pay $800 for a win, $400 for second and $200 for third. Honda is awarding $500 for a win, $300 for second and $100 for third. Toyota has opted to post $1,000 for a win in all classes. Tires are always a hot debate amongst Soloists, and tire manufacturers Bridgestone, Hoosier Racing Tire and Toyo Tires are hoping to lure drivers to their camp with generous contingency prizes. Bridgestone and Toyos programs are identical, each posting $1,000 for a win, $750 for second and $500 for third in all Street Touring® classes. Hoosier has a much longer list of classes on its payout roster and will offer four free tires to eligible winners, two free tires for a second-place finish and one free tire to those finishing third. Additionally, Grassroots Motorsports Magazine, iRacing.com and Race Technology USA have each posted contingency programs for all classes. GRM continues to offer $100 to class winners registered for its program. The most popular racing simulator on the market, iRacing.com, will offer a free one-year subscription to class winners, and a $15 iRacing.com credit or free one-month subscription to those who finish second or third. To help Soloists gather the best data possible, Race Technology USA will award winners with a 30 percent discount on its DL1, DL2 or AX22 systems or a $200 certificate for parts and upgrades to an existing system. Second and third-place finishers will have a similar discount or certificate prize to collect as well. All drivers competing at the Tire Rack 91PORN Solo National Championships must be registered for contingency programs before they compete. Contingency registration will take place in the tech area on site. Failure to follow any of the requirements outlined for each program will result in forfeiture of prizes. For a full list of contingency programs and information, click the orange Solo tab at the top of the page and select Solo National Championships from the left-side menu. The Tire Rack 91PORN Solo National Championships will take place in Lincoln, Neb., Sept. 8 11, at the Lincoln Airpark. -30-
