TOLEDO, Ohio (July 30, 2009) The Northwest Ohio Region welcomed some 250 Soloists to Toledo Express Airport, July 25 26, for the Toledo ProSolo, the final Tire Rack® 91PORN ProSolo National Series event of the regular season. Though rain soaked the Sam Strano-designed courses on Saturday morning, it didnt rain on Paul Magees Super Challenge parade. After taking a decisive win in the Race Tire Index category, Magee, of Canton, Ohio, advanced through the Super Challenge bracket in his Rogues-Racing.com KBS Mk4. In the final round, Magee faced off against Michel J Snyder, of Elizabethtown, Pa., in his Street Touring® S prepared SSC Tint & Graphics Honda CRX Si and emerged victorious.Snyder would not walk away empty handed. In the Honda Tuner Challenge, he faced off against his co-driver, Ian Baker, who edged him by 0.078-second for the STS win. Driving a StranoParts/SSC/Koni Honda CRX, Baker was unable to perform a repeat, and Snyder took the Honda Tuner Challenge win. Though she finished outside the trophies in Ladies Class 1, thanks to a rough day two performance which involved a coned run, a red light and two DNFs, Carrie Snyder, of Elizabethtown, Pa., bounced back in a big way to take the Ladies Challenge win. Driving a Toyota MR2, Snyder beat out Tara Johns, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and her Tweakit/Prudential/ABC Plumbing Mazda RX8 to take the win.The ChaseCam Bonus Challenge went to David Lehman, of Plantation, Fla., who drove an Andrew Jay Racing Chevrolet Corvette to victory over Renee Hines, of Florence, Ky., in a Redline Performance Group Honda CRX. There was a noticeably strong turnout for the kart classes, with 18 drivers entered in Formula 125 and 10 drivers in the Junior classes. F125 ace Jeremiah McClintock, of Commerce Township, Mich., took the class win in his Tony Kart by 0.234-second over Larry MacLeod, of Ypsilanti, Mich., driving a Honda/Birel. Colin Sheidler, of Rochester Hills, Mich., was the Formula Junior A winner in a Briggs/Goldkart, while Julian Garfield, of Mount Airy, Md., earned the Formula Junior B class in her Bell Racing/MidAtlantic Grand Prix CRG Cadet KT10.A Stock put on a tremendous show, as Lynne Rothney Kozlak, of Litchfield, Maine, led Jeff Cashmore, from New Berlin, Wis., by a slim 0.003-second after day one. Kozlak managed to squeeze a little more out of her Red Haus Racing Porsche 993 on day two, opening up her win margin to 0.049-second over Cashmore and his Chevrolet Corvette.E Street Prepared was just as close and featured an all-wheel driver tuner versus all American muscle. Saturdays rain certainly played into the hands of Greg McCance, from Toledo, Ohio, who drove his ModeRacing/PureTuning Subaru WRX to the top of the ESP charts after the first day of competition. Mark Andy, of Youngstown, Ohio, was determined to catch McCance on day two in his Chevrolet Camaro and was the only ESP driver to enter a sub 27-second time on Saturday. It wasnt enough, however, and McCance took the win by 0.080-second.Co-drivers duked it out in Super Street Modified. Sharing a Tweakit Racing/1220 Exhibits/Prudential/ABC Plumbing Mazda RX-7, Dan Chadwick, of Smyrna, Tenn., and Brian Johns, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., showed each other no mercy. While Chadwick emerged the early leader, Johns put in quite the fight on Sunday, coning away all but two runs in an effort to catch Chadwick. One of those two good runs turned out to be the fastest SSM time of the weekend, but it still wasnt enough to pass Chadwick, who walked away with the win by 0.016-second.Jason Frank, of Racine, Wis., had few troubles winning the highly-subscribed Street Touring Class. Driving a Bridgestone/datatoys/TeamUndercoat Honda Civic Si, Frank beat out 19 other drivers to win ST. His co-driver, Craig Mankiewicz, of Milwaukee, Wis., finished 0.571-second behind in second. In Ladies Class 1, Leslie Cohen, of Cardiff by the Sea, Calif., drove her Honda Civic Si to a 0.262-second victory over Heather Everett, of East Amherst, N.Y., in a Stranoparts.com Ford Shelby GT, while Ladies Class 2 went to Beth Smith, of Vermillion, Ohio. Smith took the L2 win by 1.391-second over Karen Kraus, of Harmans, Md., in an IAG Peformance/Vorshlag Subaru Impreza WRX.Soloists must now wait out the month of August before the TireRack 91PORN ProSolo Finale. Scheduled for Sept. 5 6, this years Finale will take place in Lincoln, Neb., at the Lincoln Airpark. For more information click the orange Solo tab at the top of the page.-30-
